It's snowing. Actually, it's dumping snow. It's been going for about an hour now, and it looks like we're already at an inch, but then again, I don't measure snow for a living.

Here's to crossing my fingers there's enough snow in the morning to make me late to work. I need a vacation so bad.

And hobbies. I need hobbies. I have been working on coloring some new background patterns from a clip-art book I got for Christmas. It's vaguely time consuming, requiring a bit of concentrated attention-to-detail. Refreshingly mind-numbing.

I wrote an entry last night, but I couldn't save it. Text Edit refused to save. Simple Text refused to save. Sometimes my computer goes wonky like this and demands to be restarted before cooperating. So I restarted and went to bed. This morning, all my preferences were gone. I still am not convinced I've got the resolution the way it was, despite me fiddling with all sorts of monitor settings and system preferences, etc. My dock looks weird, empty. But it forced me to clean up my desktop. If you call hitting the "Clean Up" button really cleaning up. I don't think I need half of these blasted icons covering my desktop.

Had a lovely Christmas. Spent lots of time at Eric's parent's and even got in almost an hour with my Mom's family.

My emotions have been... on the low end, despite Christmas. It does not help that my stress level has been through the roof. I think I'm going to be seeing Rosa again in January. Maybe up my Celexa, maybe just have a few in-depth conversations.

It's no wonder I keep dreaming about Hawaii and family. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get past it.

We have a new edition to our family! Everyone say hello to Kyra:

It's a not a great picture, but the one from the adoption site is the only one I have available right now. We took a few this morning, but since we don't have a digital camera, it takes a while to fill a roll and get it developed.

Kyra is amazing. 5-1/2 months old, she is so sweet and friendly and cuddly. She is very quiet - it took over 24 hours to realize she had a voice! And it's a small tiny one. She is quite small for her size. But so much energy! Our beloved Psycho Kitty is looking like a boring, tired, fat, crotchety old man next to her!

Introducing them has been interesting. No anger or violence yet, so things are going smoothly. I'm not entirely pleased though, since she's so energetic and bold and he's so timid and skittish, she may turn out to be the dominant of the pair. That would break my heart. We're trying really hard to show Kitty he's not being ursurped, and we still love him. So far he won't come to close if you're already interracting with Kyra, but today they had some good chases, pouncing, and other friendly interractions with each other. So I'm crossing my fingers that eventually it will be the 4 of us in the bed each night and on weekend mornings.

She's so adorable, I can't wait to get pics of her up for posterity! Yesterday, I turned to Eric and told him I finally want a digital camera. I finally have a reason to want instant pics on the web! :)
